THE TOTALITARIANS
ENGLISH THEATRE: FRANKFURT (European Premiere)

THE TOTALITARIANS: On the EVILS of Populism

FRANKFURTER RUNDSCHAU (translated)

“The Totalitarians, while broad, is convincingly unfolded by the comic sensibilities of the actors in this European premiere. The revolving stage paired with quickly changing projections allow for rapid scene changes that make for swift, diverting entertainment.

As director Mineart correctly recognizes, the play will inevitably be viewed with Trump in mind, i.e. from the standpoint of a permanent crisis with the potential for: constitutional crisis, overthrow in 2024, a climate for attacks and civil war, dictatorship, erosion of democracy in America, and authoritarian forms of government.

The Totalitarians presages and illuminates America’s course along this path. This is a highly-instructive and well-directed piece of work.”

THE FAT PREY OF MADNESS

FRANKFURTER ALLEGEMEINE (translated)

“The hilarious and lively production and the wonderfully over-the-top performances by the cast under the direction of Mark Mineart are highly entertaining and only dampened by the realization that the reality is that US politics has superseded fiction and caricature.“

THE Browns are funNy in Pink

Damrstaeter Echo (translated)

Director Mark Mineart pulls out all the stops with the snappy and insouciant jokes playwright Peter Sinn Nachtrieb offered in “The Totalitarians.“ Despite the scathing nature of this satire, the play makes for highly amusing entertainment. Even if Nebraska is not for everybody, “vacationing“ in this crazy land is certainly worthwhile, and so is a trip to the English Theatre Frankfurt.
