I just had the opportunity to work much in the way that Shakespeare's own company may have worked in the production of his plays back in the day. Through a happy chance I was invited to direct Henry V at Theatre at Monmouth in Maine. The unique thing about this production, other than only having about 4 weeks of lead time due to being a last minute replacement director and thus inheriting a virtually complete framework for the production was the rehearsal calendar for the show: 1 week of rehearsals and 1 day of tech.
All of the efforts of the incredibly fine and generous cast, design, and production teams, along with shops, running crews, and stage management seem to have yielded very good results however, as our first, and glowing, review has just come in:
My thanks and gratitude to all involved, and very much especially to Sarah and William.
